We've seen people state that Lucifer is a bad father, but we personally disagree.
One of the reasons why he distanced himself from Charlie is due to him thinking she didn't want to be around him. He was genuinely shocked when Charlie called and invited him over, but also ecstatic to be able to see her again.
Charlie commented that Lucifer only calls her when he's bored or needs something, but we honestly just think that those were excuses on his part to be able to call her, even with him thinking that she didn't want to talk to him. It doesn't really make sense otherwise, since it's been shown that he really cares about her.
We think that, considering the circumstances, he's doing a good job. He's doing his best to reconnect with and support Charlie's dreams. We feel like it makes sense for him to be against the idea at first, considering his own experiences and his wish for her to not suffer the same fate. He looked pretty horrified at just the thought of Heaven turning on her.
However, he was still ultimately willing to have his mind changed and have faith in her.
Like we said on the gushes page, when Lucifer saw that Charlie needed his help with the hotel, he was happily willing to assist without her even having to ask. His personal views on sinners differing from hers didn't matter to him. All that mattered was supporting her and making her happy.
He also really respects her decisions. When Charlie asked for him to stop attacking Adam, he immediately relented. And when she told him to leave the hotel, he didn't argue. He gave her the space she wanted, even though it was clear her words really hurt him
Yes, he is definitely flawed. He has made mistakes, and is not a perfect father. His pride, depression, and tendency to self-isolate are big struggles for him, but despite it all, he desperately wants to be on good terms with Charlie and be an active part of her life.
Even when he was captured and being hurt, he seemingly didn't even really care about his own safety. His only thoughts were Charlie and if she was still upset with him.
He clearly loves her a lot. He still has things he needs to work out, but we feel like some people are missing the nuances to him.
Look at how happy he is to just simply be around her...
Lucifer good dad!!! And we will fight anyone who says otherwise.
