Observations | Lucifer Yap Zone

In the pilot, Lucifer seemed a lot more... antagonistic? Just from the way his silhouette was kind of shadowing over Charlie during her song, him appearing in shadows with a couple of the overlords, and from a quote from Charlie later on: "I think dad was right about me..." (What did he say to her?)

Viv stated that apparently Lucifer's story was planned to be the same even during the pilot and that she always intended Lucifer to be a rather silly kind of character, but these brief snippets really communicate otherwise. It's strange. Though we guess even in the show, he was presented as being a pretty bad father before his proper introduction.

We guess the shots at the beginning are just communicating how Charlie may see him instead of portraying the full picture. If that's the case, what exactly did Lucifer do to make his daughter see him in such a negative light? Especially since she told him that he was one of the reasons she felt inspired to follow her dreams in the first place.

What is and isn't canon from the pilot is confusing, and we had assumed that Lucifer's potentially hurtful words to Charlie had been retconned once the show started, but that might not end up being the case. We're. Really curious about what he said. It must have been pretty impactful for it to stay with her.

His design in the pilot is a bit different too, though pretty similar. His pupils were originally black instead of red, and the snake on his hat was purple. He also appeared to be taller.

Speaking of height, Lucifer isn't as short as he may appear to be... He is just in a world of giants where many of the characters are over 6 feet tall.

We previously thought that Lucifer was around 5'4 to 5'6 ft. due to a height chart we found, but according to a comment from Viv, he's actually 5 ft. We are. Taller than him (but we wouldn't be mean about it, of course).

Lucifer is canonically older than the Earth, which would make him over 4.5 billion years old... He's been around a while.

Lucifer has been officially confirmed to be pansexual, which we think is awesome... He loves everyone!

Lucifer is an incredibly family focused person.

When at the hotel in season 1, he looked bored whenever Charlie wasn't involved, and he never seems to be able to remember people's names. Viv said in an interview that Lucifer thinks he's better than everyone else (he is, to be fair), so that could be a part of it. But we think trauma plays the biggest role in it, since trauma can affect memory pretty badly.

We doubt he has any ill intentions behind it. It really doesn't seem purposeful (except for maybe those he really dislikes). For instance, he struggles recalling Vaggi's name, but he wouldn't intentionally get her name wrong since he knows how important she is to Charlie.

But whenever something's going on that doesn't involve Charlie or Lilith, he really doesn't seem to care much. The biggest reason he's riled up by Alastor is because he was purposely getting in the way of him trying to reconnect with Charlie; he was completely disinterested (albeit distrustful and annoyed) beforehand.

We just think the difference between how he treats Charlie and the others is interesting. He's a huge sweetheart with Charlie, but around everyone else he's just indifferent. He's staying at the hotel to support her, but if it were anyone else we feel like he'd barely even acknowledge the hotel's existence or care.

Though considering what he's been through, we can't really blame him for being this way.

He's rather absent-minded in general, which we can personally relate with. It just feels like he constantly has a million things going through his mind at once and he struggles to concentrate. He finds it difficult to even recall things that he wants to remember.

We really wonder if he's always been a little forgetful and it just worsened after his fall, or if it really is caused solely due to his trauma... And age, perhaps. We guess after billions of years, you would start forgetting things.

During Hell's Greatest Dad when Alastor mentioned that sometimes the family people choose is better, Lucifer called said people a "bunch of losers." It's unfortunate, but it also makes sense since he's never really had a found family... Even after joining the hotel, he's not particularly close with any of Charlie's friends. He mostly just keeps to himself.

Despite everything, Lucifer seems to enjoy hugs. Upon seeing Charlie in episode 5 of season 1, he immediately wrapped his arms around her. And his first instinct after finding out that Vaggi is Charlie's girlfriend was to hug her. He needs all the hugs...

Due to his awkwardness with words, we really feel like physical touch is his primary love language, along with giving gifts. We think that having someone to hold would really help to ease his mind. And with gift giving, he is the sin of pride, after all. He'd like to show off his abilities by summoning something grand for his loved ones. Case in point, that's exactly what he did with Charlie in Hell's Greatest Dad.

Despite being the sin of pride, he's never really praised for anything he does... We feel like being genuinely praised by a loved one would make him cry from happiness.

At least in season 1, he appears to wheeze whenever talking about Heaven, like an instinctive anxiety response.

He can change the size of his wings. They were massive during More Than Anything when he first brought them out, but smaller during the last part of the song and in other scenes.

As of now, no limitations to Lucifer's shapeshifting powers have been established. We really want to see him transform into a dragon...

Lucifer is powerful. It took many overlords, a seraphim, Charlie, and all of her friends just to destroy the weapon that Lucifer was powering. And while it took Emily a fair bit of effort to create new egg companions for Pentious, Lucifer can create life with a snap of his fingers.

He seems to sing to himself a lot, which is super cute...

There being a duck musical and soap opera implies the existence of other duck enthusiasts in Hell... Or he just created or funded them all himself. Most likely the latter.

Lucifer's duck collection grew a lot between episodes 1 and 5... We wonder how large it'll be in season 3.
