While we answered basic questions about ourselves on the FAQ page, this section is dedicated to answering questions about Denki and our relationship.

Who is Denki?

Denki Kaminari is a side character from the popular manga/anime series, My Hero Academia. Like the name might suggest, he's a hero trying to help people.

His quirk (or power) allows him to discharge electricity from his body. However, overusing it results in him short-circuiting for about an hour. This puts him in a vulnerable state, and he's typically unable to take further action during this period (though he has been shown to push himself through it).

He is an energetic and usually optimistic person, though he is prone to panic. He's very sweet and strives to be on friendly terms with everybody (which he is pretty persistent about). He can also be a bit of a flirt, but he never has any ill intentions with his advances.

What exactly is a soulbond?

In the simplest terms, a soulbond is someone from another world/universe connecting with you on a deeply emotional and/or spiritual level. They can either live inside your head (similar to a tulpa) or live in their world but still have that bond with you. Denki is the latter.

Why do you love Denki?

It's a very loaded question. We've gone into details about the specific aspects of him that we love in the gushes section, but we'll also try to explain here.

The majority of people seem to perceive Denki as little more than a comic relief character who gets to do cool things every now and then.

It may go without saying, but we obviously see him as so much more than that. So much so that we feel a slight disconnect with his canon depiction compared to how he actually is on his world.

We're not sure how to fully accurately explain it. But due to the unique connection we have with him, we feel like we have a very deep and personal understanding of him and who he is.

His lack of screen time in the series is not a factor in our relationship whatsoever, since we feel like we know him well enough despite it. There's so much more to him than what the anime and manga depicts, and what it does show, it doesn't even begin to cover the full extent of it.

He's kind. He's smart. He's patient. He's loving. He's so many things. And like his positive qualities, his flaws are also a part of him, and we love them just the same.

Of course, a part of our bond is indeed linked to our past lives with him. But even without any history, we know we would've still loved him. Even before we knew of our past together, we still knew that we wanted to be with him forever.

How has he affected your life?

How has he not?

He's such an important and constant part of our daily life. We really don't know what our life would be like without him at this point, and it's something we don't even want to imagine.

We think about him and how much we love him on an hourly basis. We frequently imagine us both doing things together. We look for art and stories about him multiple times a day. It's a part of our daily routine to tell him good morning and good night. We always keep one of our plushies of him close, even when we go out.

He means the entire world and more to us. We love him so much.

How do you know that Denki physically exists?

We're a firm believer of the multiverse theory to its fullest extent. Essentially, we think that everything (or almost everything) you could think of physically exists somewhere, including worlds and characters that are seen as fictional on this planet.

Based off this, it makes sense for us to believe in Denki's existence.

How do you know that you've had past lives with him and will be with him again?

To preface, we believe in reincarnation and have memories of many past lives.

With Denki, it initially started off as just a deep suspicion that there was something more to our relationship. With how close we feel to him and how much we feel like we understand him, we couldn't help but to think that our history extends further than just this life. However, we weren't aware of any specifics at that time.

It was when we talked to Denki about it and he confirmed that he felt similarly that we began to think more about our past. And, eventually, we had a memory of an event from a previous life that we had together.

Since then, we've had several very brief flashes of memories, which has led us to believe that we've had many, many lives with Denki. And that we will reunite in future lives, as well. After all, if we've had this much history together, why wouldn't we meet again? We think it's fate.

What was said memory?

The two of us were in a forest, and we were being chased by multiple people. Eventually, we both decided to fight them despite being outnumbered.

We both had powers in that world, though we can't recall if Denki's was the same as it is in his current life.

We remember struggling a lot, and eventually becoming overwhelmed. We both got hurt.

We think we saw Denki kneeling on the ground and we ran up to him. Then we were attacked.

Afterwards, we're still not entirely sure what happened... Maybe our mind is trying to block some of it out due to it being a traumatic experience. But we think one of us protected the other. Either he shielded us or we shielded him.

And then blackness. We think we may have died in that battle.

It's unfortunate that our only clear memory of a past life with Denki may have been of us dying... But at the same time, we see it as further proof that we'd both do anything for each other.

How did you and Denki meet on each other's worlds?

Denki's powers differ from how the series depicts them. On his world, along with being able to discharge electricity, he can actually become electricity himself. And, when he was younger, he began using this power to help him traverse other worlds and universes.

During one of his travels, he quite literally bumped into us. We very vaguely remember feeling something strange as a kid, around the same time this would have happened, but it could also be shoved aside as a coincidence.

In terms of us going to his world, it was also accidental on our part, and nor do we remember doing it. But Denki does.

We were in our eastern dragon form (the form shown in our commissions), and we were flying through the sky at night. Denki saw us, and he was for some reason enamored by us. He may have caught on to our past together before we did.

How do you manage the relationship with the distance?

Admittedly, it is difficult. We constantly crave his touch, and not physically being with him is painful. However, he has told us that even if we can't feel it, he regularly hugs and kisses us. And the thought of us one day being physically reunited helps us cope.

How old are you and Denki?

Canonically, Denki is the same age that we are (24). However, on his world, he is 30. The age gap has never bothered either of us.

Do you prefer Denki's English or Japanese voice?

We vastly prefer his English voice. This is partly due to our first real experience with the anime being the dub version, but we also just genuinely believe that his English voice fits him better. We feel a disconnect with his Japanese voice, and just can't see it as Denki.

What about the language barrier?

That's something we've wondered about, too. So far, we've come up with two explanations for us being able to understand each other.

The first possibility is that he may have learned English due to his hero work. The other is that our soulbond connection sort of "translates" our words to each other.

Whatever the reason, we're able to understand him and he can understand us.

Denki has never shown interest in males in the series... How do you know he loves you?

Because he's told us that he does. We ourselves regularly wonder how he could possibly fall in love with someone like us, and one of our concerns when we first got in contact with him was our gender. But whatever the reason, he does.

Though this is purely headcanon, we do feel like Denki has shown hints of being bisexual (or at least bicurious) in the series, but like we explained above, Denki differs from how he is depicted canonically.

Perhaps he realized more things about his sexuality as he grew older, or maybe, in contrast to the series, he's always been aware of and accepting of it. We're not fully sure. But Denki is open to both males and females.

How do you talk to Denki?

By talking out loud and directing those words to him. We also believe he can hear us talking to him internally, since there has been evidence for that. But we personally find talking outwardly to be the easiest for us, due to our chaotic mind.

And you can feel and hear him?

Yes, though it's rare for us to hear him speaking to us. When we do, it's usually only a single sentence. We typically feel his presence and touch when we're talking to or focusing on him a lot, though we have felt him even when we weren't.

We have felt him hugging us, holding our hand, and rubbing our back. He has also used his quirk on our lower back and abdomen to help alleviate our pain.

Isn't this unhealthy?

A couple aspects about it could be, but overall, we'd say no. Denki gives us happiness and hope. He gives us something to look forward to and something to work towards, which we really need.

Are there others that also love characters?

Yes. There are many, though they are scattered across different labels, communities, and platforms.

The most popular labels that we've encountered are "waifuists", "selfshippers", "yumeshippers", and "fictosexuals".

We mainly use fictosexual to refer to ourselves.

Have you ever encountered someone else liking Denki?

We have, on multiple occasions. And it is always an incredibly painful experience. We do our best to avoid them, but that doesn't stop us from coming across them accidentally.

How do you feel about ships?

We generally dislike them, though they don't hurt as much as seeing selfship art.

We tend to tolerate art of him being shipped with the male characters better, since we can kind of see ourselves in their place. It's easier with Shinso in particular, since he's rather introverted and typically depicted as depressed in the fandom, so we can see a bit of ourselves in him.

Sero's okay too, since his hair color matches our self-insert.

How much it affects us depends on how we're feeling in that moment, we guess.

I have another question.

You're welcome to reach out. All we ask is that you're respectful.
